Remote Monitoring Systems

Remote Monitoring is used where it advantageous for equipment and facilities to continuously monitored for measurement, control and alarm purposes.  The term “Remote” is relative; a remote site may be as close as a tank 100 meter from a controlling PLC on the same plant site,  to a pump station PLC thousands of mile away from the SCADA host computer controlling a pipeline.

Remote Monitoring Systems come in different forms including: Alarm Dialers, RTU Systems, and I/O Telemetry.

• Alarm Dialer  - dial operator on alarm conditions
• I/O Telemetry  - Signal replication - Replicate analog or digital signals from one end to another.  I/O telemetry can be unidirectional, or bidirectional.
• SCADA / RTU - for applications requiring monitoring from a centralized computer / PLC systems
