Bentek Systems provided the systems and detail design engineering of a telemetry system for Remote control and monitoring of a lakewater supply valve located 12 km from the mill. The remote site is solar powered and helicopter accessible only. The purpose of the system is to allow for timely remote operation of the valve thereby saving valuable water resources and reducing the need fr frequent and expensive helicopter trips to the valve site. Work performed by Bentek Systems included a comprehensive radio communications engineering study including:

• Detailed communication options study (VHF, UHF, 900 Mhz, Cellular and Autotel path)
• Telemetry system hardware and software selection
• System detail design  system commissioning.

The final system consisted of a Lookout SCADA Master communicating via a VHF radio system to a Telesafe 6000-EX RTU controller.
