Overview
SCADALink IP Gateway: Modbus Multiplexer (Mux) / Multiport Modbus Ethernet Gateway
The IP Gateway has been superceded by the SCADALink IP100.
The IP Gateway is a Multiport Industrial Terminal Server designed for SCADA and Automation Applications requiring Serial Connectivity
over LAN/WAN and Internet Networks.
The IP Gateway enables Serially connected PLC’s, RTU’s, SCADA hosts, Flow Computers, Data loggers and Radio Modem systems to be accessed from a LAN/WAN network. Unique features such as multiple host connections and simultaneous TCP, UDP and Modbus TCP ports gives it flexibility and scalability in automation and SCADA applications.
MODBUS MULTIPLEXER FUNCTION
Modbus Multiplexer mode enables multiple Modbus Masters to communicate to a single Modbus Slave port. The Master device can be local Modbus RTU Master or remote Modbus IP Masters (Modbus TCP, Modbus over TCP, or Modbus over UDP). Applications include:
- Multiple SCADA Hosts Communicating to Single SCADA Communication System
- HMI and SCADA Host Sharing a Single Serial Port of PLC RTU
SERIAL ETHERNET GATEWAY FUNCTION
Serial to Ethernet gateway functionality is transparent and independent of any custom industrial protocols. Users can use TCP or UDP to access their remote Serial equipment.
MODBUS GATEWAY FUNCTION
In addition, the IP Gateway is also designed to operate specifically with Modbus devices. Acting as a Modbus gateway, the IP Gateway enables connectivity of Modbus Master or Modbus Slave devices. User can configure each Serial Port to operate with one of:
- Modbus TCP
- Modbus over TCP
- Modbus over UDP
The IP Gateway will translate any of these protocols to Modbus RTU.
MODBUS MASTER GATEWAY FUNCTION
Enables Legacy Serial Host to connect to IP-addressed remote sites.
VIRTUAL SERIAL PORT FUNCTION
Emulates a Serial Link to enable 2 Serial devices to communicate over
Ethernet/Internet.
