Overview

Industrial Solar Power Systems

Bentek Systems provides complete remote power systems for industry ranging from small power systems for instrumentation to large remote power systems for telecommunications sites. Our complete remote power systems include solar panels, battery backup systems, solar regulators, AC inverters systems, equipment enclosures and system mounting.

Power supply voltages can range from 12 VDC, 24 VDC, and 48 VDC. For sites with AC requirements, 120 VAC inverter systems can be supplied. System mounting can be designed to be modular for remote sites with Helicopter or ATV access only. Portable/Mobile mounting can be provided for applications where temporary site power is required. Class I Div 2 rated systems can be supplied for applications installed in hazardous areas.

FAQ

What level of battery autonomy is required?

A minimum battery autonomy of 15 + days is recommended. Battery autonomy capacity is calculated at its operating temperature.

How is sizing of solar arrays determined?

Solar arrays should be sized to deliver 135 to 150 % of the average daily load during period of  lowest solar radiation. For arrays deployed in northern environments this is typically during the month of December. The level of solar radiation between the highest and lowest levels (December) can vary up to to 200%.

What is angle should the solar array be mounted?

The solar arrays arrays typically are mounted to maximize solar radiation. Thus this angle may vary for the locale. For solar arrays deployed in northern environments, a 90% angle is used as during the month of December when the sun is lowest on the horizon, and the optimum angle during this time is near 90%. Mounting the solar arrays at 90% also allow snow to shed as well as simplifying solar mounting. You will most commonly see solar panel arrays utilized to remote telecom and SCADA applications mounted at 90% in Canada and Northern US.
