Maintenence and Repair is a critical aspect of any Remote Monitoring System Site Operation. M & R can include:
- Annual Maintenance & Inspection
- Emergency Repairs
- Winterization
- Seasonal Startup
Annual Maintenance & Inspection
Annual Maintenance should be budgetted for and scheduled to keep your systems in proper operating condition.
During your annual maintenance:
- Inspect Equipment and Wiring
- Replace Batteries when batteries have exceeded recommended life.
- Calibrate and Verify Instrumentation
Winterization
For systems that:
- have sensors that can be damaged by freezing
- or systems that do no need to operate during winter, the follow winterization steps are required.
Submersible sensors are taken completely out of the water, safely rolled up, to be reinstalled during spring startup.
Turn system load off for solar powered systems. Turn off any battery powered sensors. This will reduce battery discharge cycles when not required.
Annual Startup
For remote monitoring sites systems like environmental and flood warning systems, a spring startup is recommended to insure proper operation during critical operation periods since winter conditions may have damaged equipment.
- Do inspection assessment of hardware and wiring.
- Restore power if system had been powered during winter.
- Make sure SatSCADA Communications and power failure alarms are turned back on.
- Submerisble sensors are reinstalled into the water.
- Verify all sensor readings with 2 point test.
- Verify camera operation if there are integrated camera systems.
- Do complete functional test of SCADA and verfied with end user/operator.
